We've got a wedding!

Vinny B here.

Apologies for the lack of updates on the blog of late. All the action has been taking place over on beat102103.com and the official Two Strangers and a Wedding website! Well, we finally have our bride and groom! Next Monday, April 6th Lady and Batman(!) will meet for the first time AT THE ALTAR!!! The wedding will take place at Hotel Kilkenny, and you will hear everything LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on Beat Breakfast. I can't tell you how excited we all are about it.

It was on yesterday's Beat Breakfast that Lady announced which groom she wanted to meet her at the altar. Batman was certainly a popular choice with the listeners and we've been blown away by the amount of well wishes that both have received. The pair have only communicated through us on Beat Breakfast or briefly on the phone, and as I write this, they are on the blindest of blind dates - where they will get to chat and share a meal, but WILL NOT get to see each other! You will get to hear how it went on tomorrow morning's show (Wednesday April 1st) so do not miss it!

Talk to you in the A.M.

Take it easy,

VB

Oh.....what a feeling...

Just a quick update today, as I need to be rehearsing my dance moves for Lionel at the O2 tonight!

So, we have met all of our potential brides - Lady, Candy, Spirit, Sky, and Peaches. We now need you to vote for who you reckon to be the perfect bride. Check out http://www.beat102103.com for all the details. We'll be announcing the winning bride on Wednesday's Beat Breakfast.

On Get It Off Your Chest today, both myself and Mary had bad experiences to report. I had a run-in with an old trollop in a bar last weekend, whilst Mary had a thoroughly unpleasant experience with an angry driver. We're wishing bad karma on them both!

Today's Big Hard One:-
Margaret and Bob are walking. They stay side by side the whole time. Bob walked 4 miles, while Margaret only walked 2. How can this be?

ANSWER… They are both on treadmills.

Going For A Song:-

Point to pair with Kelly’s Eye (U2 - ONE)

Leigh is on breakfast on Monday, I'm on my own on Tuesday - and we're all back together on Wednesday morning!
Enj0y the weekend,
N.

I want Candy...

...as The Strangeloves sang in 1965. Yes, I know Mel C sang it in the 90's too! :)

Vinny B here. I just wanted to defend my honour re: Road Frontage. I was amazed that my co-presenters didn't know how important road frontage is in a prospective relationship. It's a genuine concern to some, and I was offended by Mr Power's suggestion that it was some sort of innuendo!

While I'm here, and on a serious note, may I say how genuinely impressed we - the Beat Breakfast Crew - have been by the brides we have "met" so far this week. Met is in inverted commas because we haven't actually met them, as they've been smuggled in and out of the Broadcast Centre in the morning, and are kept in a seperate studio behind blacked out windows...the works! Lady and Candy both got an amazing reaction from our listeners and even got some proposals from our male audience! We can't wait to hear from the rest of the brides this week. Wednesday's bride will be in studio (a different studio!) tomorrow so join us from 6.50 in the am!

Talk t'ya soon

Lady.....hear me tonight

That's "Lady" over there --->

Actually, it's not - just an artist's impression of what Lady might look like. In case you think I'm going crazy, "Lady" was the first potential bride, and we met her on this morning's Beat Breakfast.

When I say "met", I should clarify - we didn't actually see her. There was blacked out windows, tunnels, security, the works! But we did manage to speak to her, and I have to be honest, I was well impressed. She came across as a very decent, sensible, fun girl. We'll be meeting four more brides as the week goes on, but the standard has been set very high after Lady today!

You're also being asked to help choose the wedding dress. There are four to choose from, and you can cast your vote on the Official Two Strangers and a Wedding website!

We also talked about road frontage today! Vinny suggested it was something you might want to find out about a girl before you get serious with her. Does she have road frontage? We just thought he was talking about boobs as usual.

We had a lot of stories of tattoos gone wrong - you know the way you fall in love with someone, then you think it's a great idea to get their name tattooed across your forehead, and then you split :( We were asking listeners how to handle that situation. Best suggestion came from Thurles-based Siobhan who thinks you need to go out and find a new love with the same name, even if the name is something rare like Xavier. Still, spare a thought for this poor eejit.

Couple of other bits'n'bobs from this morning......
Today's Big Hard One.....
Clue: I do not breathe, but I run and jump.
I do not eat, but I swim and stretch.
I do not drink, but I sleep and stand
I do not think, but I grow and play.
I do not see, but you see me every day.
What am I?

Ans: A leg (still attached to a living body, of course!)

Going For A Song:-
Clue: Chilly game action's reddish blue slope
Ans: Coldplay - Violet Hill

Talk in the morning - where we'll be joined by Tuesday's Bride!

You dirty liars!

Have you ever lied to your kid? Of course you have. In a survey, 84 percent of parents admitted to lying to their kids about once a month. But you don’t want to make lies a daily part of your repertoire. Nancy Darling, a professor of psychology at Oberlin College, says children of parents who fib frequently are better at deception themselves - and employ it more often.

So, we asked listeners for the lies that were told to them as kids by their parents and siblings? Lots of lies about the boogey monster, and about being adopted. Poor Mary was told by her brother that if she got a second stye on her eye, she would die. Hence the popular catchphrase "Two stye and you die".

Our wedding planner Karl was in with us today to let us know how plans are coming along. Next week on the show, we'll be meeting a different bride everyday who will be given the chance to sell herself to the listeners and to potential grooms! The only thing is - the Beat Breakfast crew won't see the bride either before the wedding!

Cheese or No Cheese was Oxegen related today. Cheese was the Pet Shop Boys with "Always On My Mind" and No Cheese was Blur with "The Universal". The winner - with 62% of the vote - was the Pet Shop Boys. Yay! I'm back on form!

Today's Big Hard One....
Clue: I'm used for hitting dimples further than iron. Get tactile with me if it's luck you rely on. What am I?
Ans: Wood! **Woods hit a golf ball (dimples) further than irons, and you touch wood when trying not to tempt fate.

Going For A Song....
Clue: Gifted child ignites flames
Ans: Prodigy - Firestarter

Right, I'm off for some weekend fun and frolics. Catch u Monday!

Hairy Pizza or Sandy Sandwiches

Waddup! Vinny B here :)

Two Strangers and a Wedding took a controversial turn today when angry caller Brian voiced his many concerns about our social experiment. Opinion was split, with some agreeing with his views and some disagreeing.

We discovered that Mary is definitely the biggest geek in the Beat Breakfast crew. Did you know that she took her English book to bed to read the poems when she was a kid? G.E.E.K. :)

In what may return as a feature on the show, we played a good old fashioned game of Would You Rather. On the matter of hairy pizzas versus sandwiches full of sand, Mary and I said sandy sandwiches were defintely the way way forward, but Niall says he would rather the hair. W.E.I.R.D.O. :)

This morning's Big Hard One went as follows...

"I cover you and give you warmth, though I am somnetimes a bother.
I began to help you from the beginning but it took me a little while to form.
What am I?"

The answer...HAIR!

and going for a song...

UK born joint missiles under the big top.

Answer...Britney Spears - Circus

More updates on Two Strangers and a Wedding, as ever, tomorrow morning on the show. I promise you things are really gonna heat up in the next while as we get closer to choosing out bride! Keep up to date by listening to Beat 102-103 and checking the official Two Strangers and a Wedding website.

Talk t'ya bright n' early!

Monday!

Just a quick update today. Our main topic of discussion was a bit of a battle of the sexes - who is tougher to live with - men or women? We were trying to get a bit of advice for our bride and groom to be. Interestingly, Beat Breakfast listeners were split down the middle. Living with a man means lots of clutter, and no housework done - but living with a woman means lots of unused beauty products in the bathroom, and high volume levels!

We heard from another member of our expert panel today - David Kavanagh from Avalon Relationship Consultants. This guy is a wedding and relationships expert. You can find out more about his work and seminars here.

It's the final chance this week to win a holiday away to Marbella on Beat the Bomb. Josephine represented Kilkenny this morning, and scored 8! (It had been seven until Vinny begrudgingly gave her another point!)

Today's Big Hard One:-
Clue: The pope has it but doesn't use it, your father has it but your mother uses it, nuns don't need it, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a big one, Michael J Fox's is quite small. What is it?
Ans: A surname!!

Going For A Song:-
Clue: Environmentally friendly 24 hour period - arouse me from slumber upon conclusion of 9th month
Ans: Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends

Talk to ya tomorrow,
N.
