I want to be a stunt driver....

Today's pic of the day is Ronaldo wailing like a baby. Except it was Liverpool fans who were wailing last night and this morning after last night's result!

I wonder what Ronaldo would like to be when he grows up. Maybe a manbag model? This was our topic of the day - what did you want to be when you grew up. Lots of texts for authors, football stars, vets. Some of the stranger ones included growing up to become a post box, a fire engine, and a policeman's dog!!

We also had a chat about things a guy should have around his house to impress the ladies. The most popular answer was a musical instrument - although Mary issued a warning that there's no point in leaving one lying around if you can't play it. Other answers include clean towels, something homemade, a pet, and a zen garden!

Some other talking points today:-
  • Is it back on with Brad and Jen?
  • Vinny seemed particularly interested in this story for some reason
  • Another poor divil gets a fright when he learns something new about his wife
  • Ok.... so you're sick of being locked up..... but could you go this far?!!
Back tomorrow from ten to seven with your last chance to head to Liverpool!

After Dinner Mints, Chanel No 2s, and Colon Colognes!

Today's picture of the day is Vinny, Mary and myself chilling out at Whitebrook in Wexford. It was the house that Lady and Batman were due to live in - so we decided to spend some quality time there over the weekend.

I don't think we'd make great housemates - between my cats and Vinny's OCD - there would be plenty of rows!!

Some interesting topics on today's show. Have you heard of an overlapper? It's a new term for someone who won't leave a relationship unless they already have another one in place. Read more about it here.

What is it about farting? So many people have been talking about Mr. Methane on Britain's Got Talent at the weekend. Anyhow, it got us talking about farts - and other names for farts. Some of the best ones are in the subject line above - but you can check out more at the Fart Thesaurus!!

We also heard today of the most unusual hen parties in Ireland! Art Jam Ireland allows a gang og girls to drink some wine and do some painting. Not just any painting tho - a man will come and strip for you! Find out more at their website.

Some other stuff from today's show......
  • Is this the biggest shock a man could ever get?!
  • This is just plain weird.
  • Get a load of these big boys!
More of the same tomorrow from ten to seven - with a chance to head to Liverpool vs Spurs at Anfield!!

Babies, Dares and Dead Cows on Train Tracks!

...just some of the topics covered on this morning's Beat Breakfast.

Vinny B here. I caused controvesy (what's new?) when, on Get It Off Your Chest, I spoke of a recent dining experience which was ruined by a screaming baby. I was expecting a backlash but to my surprise, opinion was pretty evenly split.

Niall had a go at Irish Rail for their handling of a situation last weekend on the Dublin - Waterford line where a cow picked the wrong time to wander onto the train tracks. Ouch! Niall's friend, along with all the other passengers, were on that train for hours and hours.

Have you ever been beside a really annoying passenger on a plane? Mary has. She gave us the details of his picky eating habits and how he'd stretch across her to take photos out the window on a recent flight.

Now to dares. Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has revealed she was once dared to take a bike ride naked. She did it and won a tenner! Result. Our favourite text from the listeners was about two people who meet each other every day on the drive to work wearing more and more ridiculous costumes. It takes quite a pair to sit in traffic dressed as Bosco! How far will it go?

What else...

Vinny's Big Hard One went as follows; "You can see nothing else when you look in my face. I will look you in the eye and I will never lie"
Answer...your reflection

Going For A Song; Fair haired letter with fragile core.
Answer...Blondie - Heart of Glass

Okay y'all...Join us all next week when we'll be giving our younger listeners the chance to play Beat the Bomb.

And if you're a Liverpool fan, then we have a MAJOR prize competition your way! ;)

Have a good weekend people!

The Return of Mary

Mary is back from Oz! That is the reason I chose the most Australian looking photo for today's blog. We had lots of stories, and gift swapping this morning. I am currently feeling ill after eating too many Chocolate Tim Tams :)

We got a lot of reaction to a piece we covered today about what makes a guy a social leper. You can read the full top ten list here.

Other bits and pieces from today's show:-
  • Hugh Jackman introduces us to his friend "old James Roger".
  • Most countries are making huge efforts to get their citizens to quit smoking, but not China!
  • We had some controversy too with the suggestion that Irish people can't dress!
Back tomorrow from ten to seven with the Lying King, and a chance for you to win VIP tickets to Oxegen 09!

Tell me why I don't like Mondays

Ladies and Gentlemen.... the above pic is the reason you should never challenge Mr. Liam Tutty to a dance off. The man is secretly in training for months for these things, and he pulls off some pretty amazing breakdancing moves (although you can see the lady with the bag in the photo has just stepped over his head thinking he was throwing some kind of fit).

Anyhow, Congrats to Liam who won the Dance Off against me. All I will say is.... Summer Barbeque.... It's on like Donkey Kong!

The above incident happened Friday night at Portovino in New Ross - where the Beat Crew descended en masse for a bit of a party. Thanks to all the staff there, and to the sound groups of lads and ladies we met there.

Monday's show was guest hosted by one of Ireland's most talked about women the past few weeks - Bebhinn aka Lady. Things are finally settling down for her after a couple of months of chaos.

Couple of bits from today's show:-
  • Why the new obsession with y-fronts lads? Surely even in tough economic times, there are certain things that you should never cut back on?!
  • If you're gonna ring in sick from work, be careful what type of online dossing you do at home!
  • Worst place ever for some hurling?!
Tomorrow, it's myself and Vinny - and perhaps the return of the Marytron 3000!
